Friday, 03 September 2010 06:05

Welcome to the 2010-2011 season!

The GBFUA would like to invite all the teams to register for the new season!

After a very successful 2009-1010 season we are now looking forward to repeat the same success again! This year we will start to introduce a fee to participate in the Youth League, a nominal £1 per player per tounament as grants funding are not likely to be available. This bring us to the opportunity to invite you to become a sponsor of the Youth League!

If you, your friends or your business would like to sponsor the Youth League to get hundreds of young people to play floorball then please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and help us to build a more friendly and sporting youth!

Youth League Registration Documents

Please complete and sign the Team Registration Form, the Rules of Management Acceptance page and the Team List. Please send them to the GBFUA. You can e-mail the GBFUA on This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. We have integrated the Youth regulations within the Senior regulations to simplify our procedures. We have made two allowances with regards to Youth Clubs and particularly in relation to school based clubs; which is that these youth clubs based at schools do not have to have their own insurance for their own training, as we understand they would be covered by the school on which they train.

Dropping off and picking up people

Parents or guardians are responsible for dropping off and picking up the team members to the airport. For security reasons we also need to know who is dropping off and picking up the team members and their contact numbers. This includes those taking their own children with them. In this way if someone is late we know what to do and no one is left on his own!

Luggage

Each person is allowed to a hand luggage of 10kg, maximum size of 56x45x25cm.

You’re checked-in luggage is 1 suitcase per hotel room. You should know who you share with, and you should organise your luggage together and then one of you will carry the case. Maximum weight of 30Kg.

Sticks and goalie equipment should have been given to Bev for collection hence they should not be in your suitcase! Please notice that you can’t take your own stick bag without having to pay for it!

Medical Forms

Everyone needs to bring a Medical form, even those not taking any medication. The medical form also has your doctor details in case we need to contact your doctor while in Spain.

Sticks and goalie equipment should have been given to Bev for collection hence they should not be in your suitcase! Please notice that you can’t take your own stick bag without having to pay for it!

Medical Insurance

A Medical insurance is in place. However you still need your EHIC card that provides you with medical healthcare in other EEC countries – which includes Spain.

Your EHIC is free; Please visit

http://www.nhs.uk/NHSEngland/Healthcareabroad/EHIC/Pages/Applyingandrenewing.aspx

Those who provide the EHIC card will have better cover in the event of needing medical care. Those using the Medical Insurance have to pay some charges, which may include among other an excess charge of £50.

Payment for the trip

All payments need to be done by Friday 4th Sept.

We will need a £300 payment payable by cheque to the GBFUA Youth or directly into the account.

Note: The GBFUA originally asked for a £100 deposit and stated that the maximum cost of the trip would be £500. We don’t expect to exceed that figure, but on the contrary we expect to be able to return some money after the trip (assuming everyone pays and there are no extra costs).

Sticks, goalie gear and weekend training

At the time of writing this there is no agreed training over the weekend, but still trying to organise something for Sunday.

Sticks and goalie gear needs to be handed over to Bev before Friday.

Note: In the event of having training over the weekend then we will be able to collect the stick (and the smelly goalie gear) at the end of the training.

Thank you!

Thank you to those helping in these last actions, and in particular to Andy, Sam, Gregg and Les for their continuous support towards the team training!

21st August 2010 Training PDF Print E-mail
News - U19 National Team
Tuesday, 24 August 2010 19:46

On the weekend of the 21st of August the U19's went through a very intensive training camp in preparation for Spain.

On Saturday we were very fortunate to have the added expertise of Rob Nichols National Senior Team Goalie, Greg Woodall who supported Sam Needham u19 assistant coach and Les Hardiman who specialises in fitness and circuit training. The aim for Saturday’s camp was to reiterate exercises and tactics after as most of us have been on holiday! The objective was team building and spirit. Both of these tasks were met.  All players worked at an incredible pace.

Saturday morning started with a vigorous warm up which included emphasis on stretching and ankle exercises. Rob concentrated on the goalies whilst Sam and Greg worked on shooting techniques. After lunch the players then did circuit training with Les for 3 hours!!! This not only increased fitness levels but also included the exercises that were practised in the morning.

Many thanks to Greg and Les who attended to support our young team. Sunday the training again started with an intensive warm up and then the training was raised up another level. Both Sam and Rob through classroom coaching and then practical really put players through their paces and the results were phenomenal.

The standard that our players have achieved is a true credit to them and they are ready for Spain. All players worked as a team the training was very intense.  There was a lot of good bantering and practical jokes. I would like to know who Boris is and Jeff are?

I would like to know who had the camcorder as I appeared quite often. We also managed to get photos for player profiles. Sorry jack for not having time to do your hair!

We would like to finish this message with a massive thank you to our first sponsors. We are very pleased to announce we have received very generous sponsorships from Paul Holmes Builders (Cotswold building company) and to Campden Housekeepers Property Services.

Thanks a million!

Bev Needham
