The Cotswold League's C Division was very close at the top. CCS opened with an apparently easy 6-0 win over St Catharines. Jodie Russell netted the opening goal and added two more for a well taken hat trick. Sam Drew, Alfie Willson and Georgia Clark-Groves completed the scoring. CCS went on to beat Swell 2-0, Russell and Drew being the scorers. Their final match against St Davids was much tougher. Both goalkeepers wer in excellent form....Matt Turner for the seniors and James Barnard for the Moreton school. About halfway through the CCS defence gave possession away in front of goal. Turner made two super saves, but James Beeson was on hand to tuck away the rebound. CCS kept up enormous pressure after that, but could not get through Barnard's defence. Eventually a speculative shot from Georgia Clark-Groves sailed towards goal, past two defenders and dribbled in at the post. They kept the pressure up in the remaining thirty seconds, but could not claim an unlikeley winner afetr being on the rack for much of the match.
St Catharines beat Swell 2-0 with scores from Will Crawshaw and a late clincher by Hannah Pritchard. Swell also lost out to St Davids, 1-4, but did score through Oscar Dodridge. James Beeson, Domonic Monroe, Harry Honour and Ellie Peach scored for Saints. This left St Davids looking like favourites to take the top qualifying spot for the play offs, but St Catharines put in a lot of early pressure and netted early on courtesy of Callum Hui. Hui then found himself in the sin bin, but his team rallied to score a short handed goal from Will Crawshaw. More sin bin trouble was punished late on, when James Beeson pulled one back, only for the final whistle to sound soon after.
Next week Bledington, Stow and Temple Guiting compete in the D Division.
