Something about floorball...
The Great Britain Floorball & Unihockey Association is the UK National Goverining Body for Floorball and Unihockey as recognised by the International Floorball Federation (IFF, www.floorball.org)
Floorball is a rapidly expanding sport played throughout Great Britain, at local, national and international level. Floorball is a very fast and exciting sport which concentrates on highly skilled play, making the sport extremely safe. The rules are highly refined to limit injury and promote a high scoring, entertaining style of game.
Floorball is suited for recreational athletes, youth and adults of all ages. There are expanding opportunities to play the sport competitively throughout Great Britain. This includes more intense training and international travel.
Floorball is played by over 2.5 million people in more than 50 countries around the world. In the Cotswolds area alone, we not only have a youth league, who play nationally, but over 46 primary schools’ teams, in the Cotswold Schools League. Also there are established senior leagues in the South West, South East, Northern League (Scotland) and this season a university League. We have a youth team representing GB for the first time ever January 2008 and our National Team played in Czech December 2008.
Floorball is known as “Innebandy” in Sweden, “Salibandy” in Finland, and “Unihockey” in Germany and Western Canada. Professional floorball leagues exist in Finland, Sweden, Switzerland and the Czech Republic amongst other contries.
